Political Winds of Change

November 2, 2010. It is not a date that will go down in infamy in the manner of December 7, 1941 when Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan. Nor will it go down as September 11, 2001, a day that will forever remain embedded in the memory of most Americans. But, it will go down as a day of infamy for the Democratic Party aka Party of Progressives. It was a day that shook the very foundations of the Party of elitism and government waste, of spending and high taxation.. It was a day that said, "You work for us!!!! " If the Democrats didn't get that message before November 2, 2010, they most assuredly get it now. Now, they can add hundreds, if not thousands of Democrats to the unemployment rolls. How did this happen? How could a party be so out of touch with the average American? For example, President Obama thinks the election results were due to people not understanding what he is trying to say. Democrats-Progressives say it is due to voter anger over unemployment and a moribund economy. Some Republicans are under the mistaken belief it was a vote for the Republican Party ideas. Absolutely none of them get it!  It's not about them !  It's about us, the American people and what we want our elected leaders to do.

My opinion is that the Democrats took their "mandate " much too seriously. It was not a mandate to continue the reckless spending of George W. Bush. It was a mandate to change the way government worked. It was a mandate to change the way things are run in Washington D.C. Like all Democrats, President Obama, Pelosi and Reid took the 2008 election to mean their socialist agenda is what Americans want. Their idea of change was a big, intrusive, all-powerful government whose tentacles reached into the private lives of Americans. So, they shoved Obamacare down our throats. It was a 2000+ page bill that no one even read. According to former (how sweet is that ?) Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, "We have to pass the bill so we can see what is in it." This is a prime example of the stupidity, the outright arrogance of the Progressive elites in the Obama Democratic Party. How in the hell can you pass a piece of legislation without even knowing what is in the bill, how it will affect Americans and the economy as a whole? They wanted to shove Cap and Trade (aka Tax) bill that would have increased utility bills that could have doubled on the average American household. A finance reform bill that no one really understands how it will affect banking and loans in the future was also passed by the Obama Democratic Party.

It would be a mistake for the Republican Party to assume that last Tuesday's vote was a vote for the Republican Party as Senator-elect Marco Rubio pointed out in his victory speech. It's a mistake if the Democratic Party thinks this election wasn't about their out of control spending. This was truly a vote for change. This was a shot across the bow to both parties that you damn well better listen to the people and not to special interest groups. Politicians are too obsessed with becoming reelected and not helping the citizens they are supposed to represent. Republicans must know, this is their last chance to enact the principles for which they have always supposed to represent. The Republican Party has always been one of conservative ideas, low taxes, cut spending and smaller government. The Republican Party must validate their principles of what they are all about over the next two years. If neither party is willing to listen, if both parties continue to think that we work for them , then a third party will emerge. It is past time for a viable third party system in this country. Progressive Democrats and Progressive Republicans hate the Tea Party because they want Washington D.C. to work for the American people. The Tea Party is going to hold the politicians of both parties collective feet to the fire over the next two years. If they continue to ignore us, then possibly in 2014 there will be another midterm political tsunami. Only this time, it was be a tsunami sweeping out both Democrats and Republicans out of office.
