Terrorists At Our Southern Border

Something happened at our southern border, with Mexico, last week that garnered little in the way of attention from the MSM. Not one major TV network picked it up to my knowledge. No, it was not a gang of narco-terrorists killing more of our law enforcement officers. No, it was not about illegal immigrants trashing their way across the border to the land of free social services. Unfortunately, it is something that many people (including yours truly ) have been saying since September 11, 2001. It is a fear that keeps our dedicated men and women at the U.S. Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Federal Bureau of Investigation and law enforcement all along the Mexican border up at night worrying about the "perfect storm ."

What happened last week was a Muslim cleric, Said Jaziri, was caught trying to enter this country at the Mexican border. Jaziri was curled up in the "boot" of a Mexican BMW. What is unfortunate about this incident is that Said Jaziri is not just an ordinary Muslim cleric. He has been banned from Canada and the UK for his controversial inflammatory speech. He was the cleric who called for the death of a Danish cartoonist who drew a picture of the prophet Mohammed, How difficult was it for him to get as far as he did? He had a Mexican guide help him cross the border at Tecate. He later caught a ride with the driver who drove him to the border. The driver, Robert Lawler and Said Jaziri were both arrested. Jaziri claims he would be tortured if he is repatriated to his homeland of Tunisia.

The fact that a controversial Muslim cleric was caught at the border is not the real story here. The real story is how many Islamic militants have crossed our southern border undetected? It is beyond the absurd to think this is just an isolated case. Sure, Jaziri wanted to come to the USA for protection for his controversial (he has stated that homosexuality is a disease) ideas. But, what does this mean for U.S. security? It should be a wakeup call to the U.S. government. But, because he was caught, no alarms went off in the Obama administration. I doubt any mention was made of it by a White House spokesman. I find it doubtful that Big Sis at Homeland Security uttered a word about this. There have long been fears that sleeper cells of Muslim fanatics have crossed our border with Mexico since 9-1-1. The FBI has not been able to find sleeper cells thus far. But, that sure as hell doesn't mean they don't exist.

My biggest fear has been of Muslim fanatics crossing our border, helped by illegal aliens, with the material necessary to make a dirty bomb. I've always believed if it were to happen, it will be in a so-called "sanctuary city" like Houston, Texas. Obviously, Muslim fanatics have no regard or any cares about illegal aliens, much less Americans and legal residents. Sanctuary city or not, that would be their prime target because of the inability of local law enforcement to inquire about immigration status. These people could go undetected for the months or even years necessary to carry out this horrific scenario. Could this happen? If the sign of a fanatical Muslim cleric being caught at the border doesn't give credence to this possibly happening, I don't know what will. Now, I don't think Said Jaziri was crossing the border for no other reason than to find a safe house to keep from being deported to Tunisia. But, I don't know that for a fact. We should err on the side of caution in a case such as this.

Of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention the incompetence or unwillingness of the Mexican government to help patrol our mutual border. They are too busy pushing their illiterate peasants onto the burdens of the American taxpayer than to be worried about something as trivial as Muslim fanatics crossing from their country into the USA. If the above nightmare scenario ever does take place, Mexico will have an indirect hand in a dirty bomb detonating in an American city. Promises will be made to secure the border and a "new willingness " by Mexico to stop the flow of illegal aliens into this country. But, that will be far too late for the many Americans (and precious illegal aliens) that would die from the negligence of both the Mexican government and the U.S. government as well. While a dirty bomb is not on the same level as the atomic weapons in arsenals around the world. the devastating psychologlical effects would last for decades. Don't think the Muslim cleric, Said Jaziri, is not aware of this also.
